Volstad_v_BravesMarlins right-hander Chris Volstad have optioned to Triple-A New Orleans.  Volstad has a 8.50 ERA in four July starts, and is 5-8 with only 9 quality starts, and a 5.58 ERA through 20 starts.  The last straw for Vlostad was Friday night, where he  threw five innings in a no-decision against the Mets. He gave up three runs in the first inning, and four runs in the game, with three earned.

The Marlins will make a corresponding move after Saturday’s game with the Mets at Sun Life Stadium.  Dedending on how deep into the game Henley gets into the game you may see the Marlins bring Jose Ceda to give some the bullpen some relief before calling up a pitcher to take over Volstad's place in the rotation.  Expect  to see either Sean West  or Brad Hand take over for Volstad, although both are comming off poor performances in both of their last two games.

***UPDATE 7/24/11***

The Marlins on Sunday did recall RHP Jose Ceda from New Orleans.  The Marlins will need to make another move later this week as they need to decide on a starter for Thursday's day game in Washington.
